What landed recently.
All the board effects are now ink-and-watercolor: frozen pieces sit in a sketched ice crystal, the Warlord swings an inked sword, slime kings float in a droplet of green water, explosions bloom in paint, and the Chesssweeper flags, move hints and highlights are painted to match.
Hero auras are now splashes of paint under each king, in a pigment for every hero, and the ability effects — frost, explosions, Hollow Purple and the rest — burst as watercolor instead of glowing light.
Every chess piece has been redrawn to match the new look: inked outlines with a watercolor wash, cream for white and deep indigo for black. Same shapes you know, just painted.
VCC has a new look: watercolor on warm paper, hand-drawn ink lines and hand-lettered type. The washes are painted fresh every time you open a page — buttons included — so it never looks quite the same twice.
VCC now fits your phone properly. The header reflows instead of spilling off the edge, nothing scrolls sideways any more, and the page no longer pinch-zooms out from under you mid-game. Boards, menus and settings all reshape themselves for small screens — tablets included.
The disguise just got better. Your secret queen now stays hidden as long as it moves like a pawn — single steps, the double-step, diagonal captures, even en passant. Only a move a pawn could never make blows its cover. March it up the board in plain sight, then strike.
